We’ve been working behind the scenes to bring you a new and exciting resource: CPMG Connect.
At CPMG, we’re passionate about making sewing more accessible, inclusive, and joyful for everyone. We believe sewing patterns should reflect the full spectrum of body sizes, and that everyone deserves well-fitting, stylish clothes — no matter their measurements. That philosophy is at the heart of our signature course, Confident Patternmaking and Grading, where we teach aspiring pattern designers how to draft and grade sewing patterns that truly fit.
But we know not everyone has the time or desire to go through the full program. Maybe you want to create size-inclusive sewing patterns but would rather outsource the patternmaking and grading process. That’s exactly why we created CPMG Connect — a platform that helps you find freelance patternmakers trained in size inclusivity and professional drafting.
At the same time, we were hearing the same questions from our alumni:
How do I use my skills as a patternmaker to make money?
I want to start freelancing, but I don’t know where to start.

CPMG Connect is our answer to both of these needs — a bridge between people looking to hire skilled patternmakers and graduates ready to take on freelance work.
What is CPMG CONNECT?
CPMG Connect is a free service that connects our skilled alumni network of patternmakers and pattern graders with designers and entrepreneurs looking to outsource.
Our Goal:
We believe sewing patterns should be size-inclusive and professionally drafted. However, not everyone wants to handle every step of the pattern development process—that’s where we come in!
Our signature course, Confident Patternmaking and Grading, teaches students how to draft and grade size-inclusive sewing patterns at a professional level. Our students are making beautiful size-inclusive patterns every month. Take Kaya, for example. She is the creator of the Petal dress (seen below), available in sizes XXS-7XL.
Many of our talented alumni offer freelance patternmaking services and specialize in size-inclusive drafting. CPMG Connect helps you find the right expert to collaborate with, whether you need to expand your size range, outsource patternmaking, or pattern grading.

We will share your information with our alumni network.

FAQ:
What happens next?
Within 48 hours of receiving your CPMG Connect inquiry, we send a notice to our skilled alumni, forwarding your project details. If it is a match, they will follow up with you individually.
What if I don’t receive any interest?
Unfortunately, not every project will be the right match. If you don’t hear back in the next week, consider sharing your opportunity on social media or resubmitting with more detailed information.
How much can I expect to pay for patternmaking services?
You will work individually with the freelance patternmaker to set a budget. Start by asking the freelancer for their rates and be clear about the scope of your project. Every project is different, but you can expect to pay at least $50/hour for patternmaking and grading services. Some freelancers charge hourly, while others will quote a set price for an entire project.
Should we use a contract?
Yes—absolutely! We strongly recommend that you and your freelancer sign a contract outlining the scope, timeline, and payment terms. Most of our alumni will provide one, but don’t hesitate to request it if they don’t.
What is CPMG’s role?
CPMG Connect simply helps facilitate connections between patternmakers and potential clients. Please review the service agreement before starting any work—while we do our best to connect you with skilled professionals, CPMG is not liable for the outcome of your working relationship.
I am a CPMG alumni - Do I have to sign up to receive these job notifications?
Nope! If you are an alumni of our program, you will be automatically added to our list when we send out freelance job opportunities.
What if I am not an alumni, but want to receive these opportunities? Is there a way to get on the list?
Only CPMG alumni will be part of this program. It is important to us to only recommend our own students who we can be sure have the highest skills and abilities.
